#wksmove fitness and wellbeing initiative
The PE and OT department are launching a new initiative for the pupils to encourage them to move more #WKSMove
An initiative from Mr Musgrave, PE lead and our OT team Mrs Irvin and Mrs Taplin aimed at a positive approach fitness and wellbeing. Particularly important during lockdown and for remote learners.
#WKSMove is focuses on getting moving - increasing steps and having more active time throughout the day, as this all has a big impact on our overall mental and physical well being. This will be launched during end of term assembly and the details discussed in classes.
Pupils can log their physical activity, what type of activity they do and for how long and complete a daily record of the number of steps they do. Each class / year group will be a team and we will be asking staff to also encourage them to increase their activity levels, to get moving more, increase the steps they do and complete their daily log. We’ll collate the results and see how far each class is moving.
Competition time!
Aswell as prizes for individual efforts, there's a class competition and each class sets a target of where they'd like to walk to in the UK or Europe!
Young people and families are free to share their interesting activities with us community@wkrs.co.uk or on Twitter and tag us @westkirbyschool !
