Welcome to West Kirby School and College where our teaching, clinical and whole school staff team are enthused by the opportunity to support, help and enable children and young people. Our motto is 'Changing children's lives'.
As a team, we are driven to inspire and motivate pupils, ensuring they are equipped with knowledge, skills and experiences which will help them achieve their goals and ultimately reach their full potential. We understand that each child and young person is different and has individual needs. Therefore we tailor teaching, learning and therapeutic interventions - making activities accessible so pupils can flourish and thrive.

06 MarA day at Parliament: an unforgettable journey
On 4th February, a group of our pupils travelled to London for an unforgettable visit to Parliament, supported by Mr Dowds, Mrs Brown, Mrs Cherubini, Mr Shewan and Ms Jones. From start to finish, pupils showed maturity, respect, and outstanding behaviour throughout the journey.
05 FebAutism Accreditation: Re-Accredited at Advanced Level with Beacon Status
We are delighted to share that West Kirby School & College has been successfully re-accredited at Advanced level for the Autism Specialist Award from the National Autistic Society (NAS), the highest level available within this accreditation.

Pupils at West Kirby School & College recently took part in an inspiring visit from The Martin Gallier Project, focused on mental health, wellbeing, and knowing how to ask for help.

We're very proud to share news of our recent full Ofsted inspection feedback. Inspectors said "Pupils thrive at West Kirby School and College, and that "in all areas of the school pupils receive a transformational education." Mr Richard Hicks, Headteacher, comments "Inspectors judged our school as strong across five areas, and 'strong' is exactly the right word. It reflects not only the standard inspectors found, but the strength of relationships, the strength of support, and the strength of belief we hold in every one of our pupils. This is a proud moment for our whole school community, and is a credit to every member of staff who goes above and beyond for our young people, every single day." When sharing how it feels to be a pupil at our school, inspectors said "Pupils feel safe, valued and included, and how "every member of staff lives out the school's motto 'Changing Children's Lives'." Parent Governor, Clare Boulton shared "As both a parent and governor, I am incredibly proud of this result. The report reflects the dedication, care and hard work of staff across the school and college who create an environment where every young person is supported to achieve their full potential. GREAT NEWS FOR THE WKS COMMUNITY! After a whole year of hard work, lots of eco activities and plenty of green initiatives, we're delighted to share that WKS has achieved the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction! A huge well done to our Eco Committee and Eco Ambassador for all their enthusiasm, ideas and commitment throughout the year. We're incredibly proud to have the Green Flag flying at WKS. It represents so much more than an award, it shows that we care about our environment, our planet and our relationship with nature. Why West Kirby School?
A rich, varied, aspirational curriculum
Our curriculum and wide range of qualifications relevant to our pupils' needs, is designed to enable our young people to reach their potential. We provide our pupils with aspirational opportunities, academic and vocational, with over 19 subject choices at GCSE or equivalent.
Our support services are intrinsic to pupils' educational success
We provide a holistic approach to our pupils', integrating education and therapeutic support, to support both learning and our young people's complex special educational needs. Our Support Services include Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Pastoral Care, Reading Support and Home School Liaison.
Our culture of understanding and acceptance
Pupils' differences, individual talents and skills are celebrated and nurtured. We aim to develop our pupils' self-esteem and encourage them to take pride in all their achievements. Our safe and accepting space also allows pupils to express themselves so they feel part of our community.
Wellbeing and mental health
At West Kirby School wellbeing activities are part of our weekly curriculum. Every Friday afternoon is dedicated to wellbeing and our pupils are involved in adventures and activities on and off site.
