Our DofE Award explorers go Gold!
In July, team Gold successfully completed their 4-day assessed expedition.
Mrs Draycott told us about the adventure...
"We had a mixed bag of weather, but the team overcame both personal and team challenges. The team started in Rhyd-Ddu, navigating through Beddgelert forest to the Cambrian Way to Hafod-y-Llan campsite. We then went East towards Dolwyddelan where we camped near the castle. On the final day we set off East along the river and through the forest towards Rhiwddolion, eventually finishing at Betws-y-Coed.
Highlights included:
-
Dan’s delight as he caught sight of the steam train several times on the way to Beddgelert.
-
Toasting marshmallows and using warm rocks to dry out our soggy boots.
-
We took advantage of actually having a phone signal and huddled around Mr Scullion’s phone to watch England beat Netherlands 2-1 in the Euros, along with 10,000 midges!
In total the team walked around 45 km and climbed 1250m, an amazing feat. Congratulations to Harvey, Dan & Thomas".
