100 Years of WKS - Our Centenary Year
100 years. One whole century of West Kirby School. To celebrate our centenary year, we held a special exhibition which explored and recognised the work West Kirby School has done past and present.
The building itself started as a Children’s Convalescent Home in 1881, with a focus on helping those suffering from the effects of trauma, neglect and disease. Since then, we have evolved into a School for those with additional educational needs. In 1905, we were officially recognised as being a boarding School and then formally registered as a School and college in 1924. To this day, we strive to create aspirational futures for every child who comes through our doors. The story of our School is ingrained in the work we do to keep ‘Changing Children’s Lives’.
Between the 1st and 9th of March, we held an immersive exhibition that showcased the roots of WKS to the general public, School and local community. We can’t thank everyone enough who came along to support us. It was especially lovely to see pupils attend the exhibition and take in the heritage of their School with such interest and pride.
We thank West Kirby United Reformed Church, our neighbour friends, for hosting this special event.
