Coronavirus school update
Dear Parent/Carer,
Here is an update with regards to the school's position and our actions re Covid-19.
As you may be aware, yesterday the government moved the country into the second phase of its action plan, namely 'delay'. We were previously in 'contain'. The other two areas are 'research' and 'mitigate' . You can find the plan here:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-action-plan
In terms of the government’s advice with regards to symptoms it is:
If you have a persistent cough and/or a high temperature (above 37.8c) you need to self-isolate.
I would therefore ask that you continue to be vigilant. If your child has a cough or a temperature as described, please ensure they self-isolate at home for seven days and inform us by phone or email: schooloffice@wkrs.co.uk
The public is being asked not to go to A & E or to their local doctor's surgery and the NHS is not testing people who suspect they have it now. Therefore, the advice we have received is to ask parents/carers to call 111 if they or their child is ill.
Or contact the corona virus helpline for general information:
Phone: 0800 046 8687
Email: DfE.coronavirushelpline@education.gov.uk
Opening hours: 8am to 6pm (Monday to Friday)
In terms of how we can look after ourselves, corvid-19 can stay live on a hard surface for up to three days (source: Public Health England). This means we should keep handwashing, especially that when we go out, and if touch a banister, cash machine, key pad or lift button.
We are endeavouring to stay open and to be able to teach our pupils. As such we have firm plans in case we have a high number of staff off with an illness to make sure we have all necessary structures in place for keeping open. Additionally, the school does have a strong Business Continuity Plan in place, which ensures we have plans in case we are asked to close. We will continue to keep you informed in this case.
In the meanwhile, have a lovely weekend.
Yours sincerely
S. Thomas
Principal
